The 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium® concludes today, but not before another full schedule of engaging sessions in person at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and worldwide for virtual registrants. Each morning, SABCS Meeting News is providing a rundown of what you need to know for the day ahead.

Here are your program highlights for Friday, December 13, 2024.

Poster sessions
Take in top-rated abstracts during five sessions occurring concurrently from 7 to 8:30 a.m. These moderated sessions will include 30 minutes of poster viewing, followed by discussion and panel Q&A periods. This morning’s topics include:
- Session 10: Addressing Racial Disparities in Breast Cancer Outcomes (Hemisfair Ballroom 3)
- Session 11: Imaging to Guide Breast Cancer Treatment – Molecular Imaging and AI (Hemisfair Ballroom 1-2)
- Session 12: Immunobiology Impact on Therapeutic Efficacy (Room 221ABC)
- Session 13: Molecular determinants of therapeutic response and resistance – Spotlight on CDK4/6i and ADCs (Stars at Night 1-2)
- Session 14: Brain Metastasis (Stars at Night 3-4)
Today will also include additional chances to review specific abstracts and hear from the authors during mini oral presentations and special poster viewing periods.

Plenary Lecture and General Session
The Symposium will once again feature unopposed programming from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. today in Hall 1 at the convention center.
Walid Khaled, PhD, will deliver the second Plenary Lecture at the 2024 SABCS®, addressing the applications of breast cell atlases in cancer treatment and prevention. Following that, investigators will present impactful clinical trial results during the third General Session — find specific abstract titles and more information in the SABCS® app and virtual platform.

Can’t-miss sessions
This afternoon’s schedule spreads out a bit to give proper due to some of the sessions that everyone will be talking about.
From 12:30 to about 2 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to gain insights into breast cancer pathology and prevention. A special debate from 2 to 2:50 p.m. will illuminate opposing perspectives on universal germline genetic testing for all breast cancer patients.
- The Pathologists Conundrum: IHC Testing in Breast Cancer (Room 221ABC)
- Risk Reduction and Early Detection: New Directions in Breast Cancer Prevention (Stars at Night 3-4)
- Debate: All Patients Should be Offered Universal Germline Genetic Testing (Stars at Night 3-4)
Finally, the Symposium will wrap up with two highly anticipated sessions in Stars at Night Ballroom 1-2. The Year in Review session, from 3 to 5 p.m., will look back on the year in breast cancer research, across basic science, translational science, early breast cancer, and advanced breast cancer.
A short break, from 5 to 5:30 p.m., will allow attendees to enjoy refreshments in a roundtable setting before the start of the annual View from the Trenches session. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., a panel of experts will offer their immediate takeaways from the practice-changing developments presented at this year’s Symposium.
