2024 SABCS®: The future of breast cancer research and care starts here

Join nearly 11,000 researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, and supporters from around the world who will shape the future of breast cancer research and care at the 47th annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium®.

The 2024 SABCS®, December 10-13 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, will feature the latest clinical trial findings, cutting-edge scientific presentations, and multidisciplinary discussions on every aspect of breast cancer and premalignant breast disease.

Registration is open, and early registration rates are available through October 11. Virtual-only registration is an option for those who are unable to travel, but there are a number of in-person networking and educational opportunities that are not to be missed.

“SABCS started with the idea that you had to bring the basic scientists and the clinicians into the same room, and they had to listen to each other, even when their shared knowledge was maybe 10% or 15%,” said SABCS® Program Director Kate Lathrop, MD, of the Mays Cancer Center at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. “Those lanes have to cross in order for discovery to impact patient care. You have to create an environment where the basic scientists, the clinicians, the patient advocates, the people who are working on disparities, prevention, public policy, education, and career development are bumping into each other and learning from each other. That’s what makes SABCS special.”

The 2024 SABCS® Program Planning Committee has constructed a robust program that addresses the whole continuum of breast cancer — experimental biology, etiology, prevention, diagnosis, therapy, and long-term care.

Special sessions will take attendees behind the scenes of recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration approvals, explore prevention and the mechanisms of obesity-related risk, and dive into patient questions about the interplay of treatment with supplements, cannabis, sexual health, exercise, and alcohol. Plenary lectures will shed light on racial disparities in cancer outcomes and look at cell atlases as roadmaps in cancer immunology.

The symposium’s highly anticipated general sessions will present late-breaking and practice-changing study results, and numerous educational sessions, poster spotlights, workshops, case discussions, award lectures, and more will cover timely topics in the field, including artificial intelligence. Four days of programming will finish strong as SABCS® Co-Directors Virginia G. Kaklamani, MD, and Carlos L. Arteaga, MD, present the Year in Review session summarizing important recent developments. In addition, the popular View from the Trenches session will prepare attendees to immediately transfer the knowledge gained into daily clinical care.

The 2024 SABCS® will include something for everyone with an interest in breast cancer research and care. Along with a high-quality scientific program, the symposium will offer several career development sessions, countless networking opportunities, and an expansive Exhibit Hall showcasing the latest industry advancements and other amenities. Attendees are also invited to unwind and mingle during the inaugural SABCS® Celebration, a new evening event featuring appetizers, beverages, and live music from ‘80s new wave tribute band The Spazmatics.

Mark your calendars, make plans with friends and colleagues, and register today to secure spots at the world’s premier gathering of breast cancer scientists, clinicians, and advocates!
